5 Minute Late Summer | Early Fall Farmhouse Centerpiece

| | | | |

Create a beautiful late summer or early fall centerpiece that will only take 5 minutes!

While I was adding some late summer style to the farmhouse open shelves in my kitchen breakfast area, I decided that I may as well go ahead and freshen up my kitchen table too.  Just like with my shelves, I had not changed the centerpiece on my table since last spring.  I was so busy finishing my dining room makeover, that I never really took the time to do anything specific for summer.  If you missed seeing my late summer open shelves, you can see them by clicking HERE.

I wanted to put something together really fast though and this centerpiece took me all of 5 minutes!

Then I found both the large wooden bread board and wooden beads at the Pottery Barn outlet a couple of weeks ago and knew straightaway what I was going to with them.  I love it when inspiration strikes!

For me I normally keep a fairly large centerpiece on my kitchen table since it’s long and can seat up to 8 people.  But this wooden bread board is large enough to stand on its own and I actually really like the change to a more simple look.

My original plan had been to use fresh eucalyptus in the pitcher, but whew, that stuff is pricey!  Maybe I just don’t know where to look for it.  Anyway, I was pretty tickled when I ran across a realistic looking faux version at Hobby Lobby the other day.  A few pieces of dried wheat stalks, mixed with the eucalyptus, gives a nod to the quickly approaching fall season.

And of course, we can’t forget about that all important texture!  Stacked plates, wooden bowls filled with a few corks and the wood beads all point toward the end of summer and the coming fall.

Have you started thinking about fall decorating yet?  Or is it just too hot in your neck of the woods?  I admit that it’s so hot here in North Carolina, that it’s hard to believe that fall will ever arrive!

What am I missing? I can’t find the Pin symbol, so I can put a picture on Pinterest.

    1. Hi Lorraine. The pin it symbol should show up in the middle of each photo when you hover over it. Sometimes it’s hard to see because it’s white.

      1. Lorraine Freeman says:

Suzy, hovering doesn’t work on an iPhone. Any other ideas? I see so many things I’d like to Pin.

        1. I’m afraid that I’m not an iphone user, but my daughter is. 😀 She said that she has to tap (don’t hold down, just tap) the photo to see and use my “Pin This” button. If that doesn’t work for you, I found a lot of tips for how to pin from an iphone when I did a Google search on “how to pin from an iphone”. Hope this helps!

I found out how by googling like you suggested. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that. It was so easy to do. Now I can really enjoy your site knowing I can pin what I like the best. ??
Thx for sticking with me on this.

Absolutely LOVE that pitcher and eucalyptus. I live in a rural area, but am going to see if I can find some of that eucalyptus somewhere! Am going to the big city on Thursday (my birthday!!) and see if I can treat myself to a batch – 73 and counting!!

Love everything you do. Such exquisite taste. Simply elegant.

  17. Love this simple and copy-able (I made that word up?) center piece!

  18. Such a simple but elegant centerpiece. I have a pitcher similar, I think I will do something with it. I recently visited our local Hobby Lobby and there are some really cute flowers that I could use! Thank you for sharing! Love the Fall Centerpiece ideas also!

  19. I love this centerpiece and keep coming back to the post! Where can one find the feathers – pheasant???

    1. Hi Leslie. Yes, you’re right – these are pheasant feathers. They range from roughly 12″ to 14″ long and are not dyed. I found a them on Amazon for you. Here’s the link (it’s an affiliate link): http://fave.co/2dvDRFc
