Behind The Scenes At Worthing Court

If you’ve been reading blogs for long, you’ve probably seen many bloggers talk about what wonderful friends we’ve made as the result of being a part of the home decor/DIY blogging community.  It’s totally true!  That’s exactly how I met my sweet friend Debbie from Confessions Of A Plate Addict.  Another blogger and I crashed her house one weekend and had a wonderful girls weekend filled with laughter, shopping and yummy eats.  So thank you, Debbie, for asking me to be a part of the Tour Through Blogland.

Do you know Debbie?  I admit that I was a feeling a little nervous and a little guilty about crashing someone’s home for several nights.  Especially since we had never met in person.  I needn’t have worried one bit though.  Debbie is such a warm and loving person that I felt right at home and you will feel the same way as you get to know her through Confessions Of A Plate Addict.  I look forward to her posts each and every day.  Her style is lovely and she is the consummate copycat queen.  Along with sharing easy and lovely decor ideas, she is an expert at showing us how to recreate those expensive items from Pottery Barn and other venues that we all covet.

The whole purpose of the Tour Through Blogland that many of us are participating in, is so that you can get a peek behind the scenes and get to know a little bit more about the blogger behind the blog.  Let me give you a peek into the world of Worthing Court.

1. What am I currently working on?

This is an easy one for me to answer because it is literally consuming my life lately.  We purchased a new (to us) home this summer and are knee deep in renovations.  It’s one of those houses that has really great bones, but needs updating.  After two weeks of demo, it’s finally time to start putting it back together.  We don’t have any completed projects yet, but click HERE to take a look at the layout and plans for the kitchen.  I can’t wait to start sharing more!

2. How does my work differ from others in my genre?

There are oodles and oodles of home decor and diy bloggers out there.  I guess a large part of what makes us stand apart are our styles and our personalities.  My passion is to  “pay it forward”, so inspiring and helping others is what I’m all about – in both blogland and the real world.  I do my best to keep things easy and affordable.  I’m truly honored and delighted when a reader lets me know that something they read on Worthing Court was a help or inspiration to them.   In fact, my most popular post of all time was a tutorial with step-by-step directions for how to decorate a Christmas tree.

3. Why do I write/create what I do?

To put it simply, because it gives me so much gratification!  When I first discovered the world of blogs several years ago, I was thrilled.  Finally – a place to be inspired on a daily basis.  No more waiting for the next shelter magazine to arrive or for the next showhouse to open.  It only took me a few months to decide that I wanted to be a part of it all.  So I jumped in with both feet and have never looked back!  I love helping others solve challenging design dilemmas as well as sharing projects from around my own home.

4. How does that writing/creative process work?

It’s different for me every day.  I’d love to tell you that I’m uber organized and have posts already planned, photographed and written weeks in advance, but I don’t.  I do have a running list of blog ideas that I keep, but what I blog about pretty much depends upon the mood that I’m in or what’s been going on in my life lately.  After letting the corporate world rule my life for 30+ years, I decided that I would blog purely for the joy of sharing and inspiring others.  I write with all of you in mind, but I want what I blog about to be genuine – not a made up, idealistic life – because it isn’t!

Jenna from Wife In Progress

Hi! I’m Jenna of Wife in Progress. This is my first ever Tour Through Blogland so a thank you goes out to Suzy for including me! I basically started Wife in Progress in 2012 right after I got married and my husband and I had bought our first home – a 1950’s Cape in suburb north of Boston. The blog started as a way for me to share all our home improvement and DIY projects with my friends and family who live all over the world and it quickly grew into a fun hobby. I’ve always been creative and studied computer programming in college (despite now being a full-time teacher) so working on the blog also helps satisfy the nerd in me! We’ve made so much progress updating our home over the past couple of years. With a baby boy due to arrive around Thanksgiving, there’s going to be plenty of exciting updates over the next few months too! I do hope you’ll stop by the blog and say hi!
