House Tour: House Snooping At Fox Hollow Cottage
Good beautiful Friday morning everyone. Before I dive into the busy weekend that I have ahead of me, we simply must go snooping!
And today, Shannon has graciously invited us to to do our weekly snooping around her house.

Enjoy!

Hello Worthing Court Readers!!
Suzy invited me over to share our home with you today.
I’m Shannon and I’ll be sharing Fox Hollow Cottage with you.
We live in the Pacific North West, on the coast in Oregon.
Welcome!
We don’t live in a grand home.
In fact, it’s actually the smallest house we’ve ever lived in!
But we are very happy here and we really love our little house.
(I could be lured away by the promise of a mud room some days though)
This is the upper floor, and our main living area. We spent the Summer painting everything top to bottom and installing new hard wood floors. We sort of love them.
So much so, that my hubby says we are never moving. Ever.
(he did the lions share of the installing)
Our living room. In Fall.
You may notice as you tour our home. I have a few pillows.
I sort of really like them.
I couldn’t decide which coffee table vignettes to share in this post, so you are getting two versions!
I love this coffee table. So far it’s made the cut. They usually don’t last long.
I found it at a garage sale for next to nothing. I swear, the cheaper it is, the more I like it?
Funny how with some things that works. I wish that was the case with handbags.
My taste is much richer than I am when it comes to those.
The gold framed chalkboard below is a Goodwill makeover. It took some looking , but I finally found an affordable frame. My dad and I made the end table. In fact, I have two, and they have been a variety of colors.
In addition to our TV viewing area in the living room, we also have a fireplace on the far side of the room.
It didn’t always look like this though. The makeover took a hammer, chisel, loads of hard work and about $150.
We got off really cheap!
I adore my chalkboard painted mantel wall over the fireplace. In real life, it has such depth. Even when I don’t have anything written on it… I just love it!
Here, you’ll see the mantle dressed for late Fall and Thanksgiving.
Right now, the area in front of the fireplace is home to our farm table.
I’ve been getting ready to host Thanksgiving dinner at our home this year. I’ve got my centerpiece decided upon and everything is falling into place with my $1 table runner as the base. We are fancy here I tell ya. {winks}
Oh home is very open and you can see from the front entry, though the living area and the kitchen into the sun room.
The diy was a real family affair!
Before I painted the chalkboard finish over the mantel, I tried it on the backs of our kitchen cabinets.
A little chalk, paint and a stencil… and I was a happy girl.
The Chalkboard Painted Open Kitchen Cabinets are still one of my favorite projects.
All that is left for today, is the sun room.
Thank you for having me today!! It’s always fun to look back and see how far the house has come.
Baby steps: Save money. DIY a project. Repeat.
Because this is where we started.
If you’re into ugly pictures and would like to see more real life, budget friendly makeovers, come on over to Fox Hollow Cottage and say hello!
Thanks again!

Thank you so much, Shannon, for letting us snoop around your lovely home. Every single room is just lovely. The before and after of your kitchen is unbelievable!
I woke up early today and found this lovely tour of Fox Hollow Cottage in my in box. I am in love with your home inside and out. The make overs are amazing. This shows that bigger isn’t always better. This is one of my favorite tours.
Awe. This made me smile!! Have a wonderful day Diane.
Thank you for inviting me to join you in your snoop. I love doing it this way – I’m still in my jammies, drinking my tea, no makeup. Life is GOOD!! I can’t believe the kitchen and the flooring is beautiful. We downsized too and I still haven’t made this house into our nest. Too many huge windows – I know, I know, I should love windows but it makes positioning furniture close to impossible. Also did I mention their our doors everywhere? Well, you ladies sure do give me ideas so thank you:)
Cheers to downsizing. With all it’s pros and cons 🙂
Shannon’s home is so beautiful…I never tire of seeing her gorgeous rooms and great projects…and I so love that coffee table!….great feature today Suzy!
Thank you so much Shirley. Yep, my little $5 coffee table. So far, I like it best. I sold my furniture store bought one at a garage sale.
Lovely home! I like seeing houses that are realistic in size and how people decorate them. I’m crushing on her pillows and mercury glass items.
Hi Megan, thanks so much. I hunt around and find the mercury glass at Ross and HomeGoods for much less than anywhere else. Actually, the pillows as well! lol – Shannon
I just love Shannon…and love that her projects are real things that she tackles herself!
Thank you Kirby! We save up, and we can afford labor or materials. So you know how that goes. lol.
Thanks so much for having me over today Suzy. It’s a pleasure to be here and to hear from your lovely readers!!
Suzy and Shannon, What a fun tour this was. I especially love that Shannon’s furniture is not just like everyone else has. Unique items catch my attention and as others have mentioned that coffee table is fabulous! Great tour.
Thanks ladies,
Helen
