9. CULINARY CORNER: APPLE CIDER GLAZED SALMON: Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment. Place 4 (6-oz) salmon fillets, skin side down. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup apple cider, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tbsp Dijon mustard, 1 minced garlic clove, and ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes. Bring to a boil, then simmer 10–12 minutes until thickened. Brush salmon with glaze, season with salt and pepper, and bake 8–10 minutes, brushing again halfway through. Drizzle with extra glaze and top with sliced green onions.
10. THE LAST WORD: I’m thinking about painting our white buffet. See the image above. The question is what color? I’d love to hear what you think.
ANSWER TO #7: The word sofa comes from the Arabic word for bench. The 3-5-7 rule suggests that items grouped in odd numbers, and particularly in threes, are perceived as more attractive. Odd numbers create visual balance, movement, and interest, while even numbers often appear too symmetrical or static. Now you know.

1. FAVORITE STYLING MOMENT: I’m celebrating green today with a cheery little vignette in my dining room. The vibrant color adds such energy to the space and pops nicely off of the faux grasscloth wallpaper.
2. EASY DECORATING TIP OF THE WEEK: Avoid the stiff, don’t-touch-me look in a room, style throw blankets by casually draping them over the arm or back of a chair or sofa instead of neatly folding them.
Why this works: A loosely draped throw helps to soften the look of structured furniture and other hard edges in a room, which makes a space feel lived-in without looking messy.
3. DID YOU KNOW: Did you know that houseplants need to be rotated occasionally to grow evenly and keep them looking full and healthy? Make a habit of turning them every time you water for plants with balanced growth.
4. FAVORITE RECENT PURCHASE: We recently replaced our exterior keyed entry locks with these keyless ones. It has made our lives so much easier! I no longer have to leave a key for my cleaning lady or fumble with a house key when my arms are full of grocery bags.
5. LOVELY LIVING AND BEYOND: Lovely living means being a gracious hostess/host and it begins with how you welcome guests to your home. Create a warm first impression with small touches such as a flower arrangement, a pretty doormat or rug and soft lighting.
6. READER QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Every time I try to decorate my home, I get overwhelmed and second-guess every decision. How can I get past my fear? See #10 for the answer!

9. HOME HACK: Lessen the accumulation of dust on baseboards and indoor window shutters and blinds by wiping them with a dryer sheet. It removes the dust and helps to repel additional dust buildup by leaving a light anti-static coating.
10. ANSWER TO READER QUESTION (#5): You are not alone! The key to overcoming decorating fear is to give yourself permission to make mistakes. Even the pros do. To build your confidence, start with small projects instead of a total room makeover, for example.
