Welcome to this week’s edition of the Weekly Wednesday Wishlist. With the holidays behind us and a new year underway, this feels like the perfect time to slow down, simplify, and create spaces that feel calm, comfortable, and quietly welcoming.

1. FAVORITE STYLING MOMENT: With the business of the holidays behind us, I love the simplicity of a bowl filled with nothing more than pinecones. And the clear glass of the candle holder makes me think of crisp, icy winter mornings. I’m hoping that these frosted pinecones aren’t the closest that I get to snow here in central NC though!

2. EASY DECORATING TIP OF THE WEEK: Lighten up your rooms after Christmas by swapping heavy holiday textiles for softer winter layers like neutral throws, knit pillows, and simple linen or cotton fabrics. This keeps your home feeling cozy while creating a clean and calm look for the new year.

1. A COZY HOME AFTER THE HOLIDAYS: Once the holiday decorations come down, your home might feel cold and bare, but I like to see it as a blank canvas. An opportunity to slowly layer coziness back in. Here’s how to do it.

9. CULINARY CORNER: Easy Salmon Picatta: Season 4 salmon fillets (6 ounces each) with salt and pepper. Lightly coat with 1/4 cup flour. Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook salmon 4 to 5 minutes per side until golden, then remove. Add 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice, 1/2 cup chicken broth or dry white wine, and 1/4 cup drained capers to the pan. Bring to a boil, then simmer 3 to 4 minutes until reduced by half. Whisk in remaining 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, return salmon to the pan, spoon sauce over, warm 1 to 2 minutes. Garnish with 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, and serve.
