Weekly Wednesday Wishlist #271

Welcome to the latest Weekly Wednesday Wishlist, where you’ll find decorating tips, favorite styling moments, gracious living inspiration, and home decor and fashion finds—all meant to help make your home and everyday life feel a little more beautiful and inviting.

We’re reaching that point in August when summer is still hanging on, but our thoughts are beginning to turn toward fall. I’m already looking ahead and gathering inspiration from the last fall in our previous home, while still enjoying the light and ease of these final summer weeks.

Inside this week’s Wishlist, you’ll find a simple decorating trick for softening a room, a fascinating little fact about those fireflies we’ve been watching all summer, and an easy habit for keeping the house under control as schedules begin to get busier. I’m also sharing favorite finds, wearable style, and a practical home hack that will save you from digging through the junk drawer the next time you need a battery.

1. FAVORITE STYLING MOMENT: Here’s a peek inside a portion of my china hutch. Stayed tuned for a dining room tour coming next Monday!

2. EASY DECORATING TIP OF THE WEEK: Soften a room filled with straight lines by introducing one unexpected rounded piece, such as a scalloped tray, round side table, curved lamp, or arched accessory. That little break from all of the angles can make the entire room feel more relaxed and inviting.

3. DID YOU KNOW: Did you know that fireflies aren’t actually flies? They’re beetles, and the light they produce is considered one of the most efficient forms of light in nature because almost none of the energy is lost as heat.

4. FAVORITE PURCHASE: You guys have blown this viral favorite out of the water over the past week, so I’m keeping around this week. They sell out every year!

Find all of my purchased and loved decorating, gadget, and organizing favorites HERE .

5. LOVELY LIVING AND BEYOND: Open the curtains wide during the day and let natural light fill your home. Bright rooms feel cheerful, welcoming, and full of life during the summer season.

6. READER QUESTION OF THE WEEK: “How can I keep my home looking tidy now that everyone’s schedules are getting busier?” See #10 for the answer!

ANSWER TO #7: A human person produces about 2.8 million new cells a second. Andrew Jackson had a pet parrot named Poll that had to be removed from his funeral for reciting a stream of profanities that his owner taught him.
