I’m tickled to open my doors wide for you today and welcome you into my home. I can’t wait to show you around!

A huge thank you to Marty, from A Stroll Thru Life, for once again organizing a wonderful lineup of seasonal home tours. Marty is so gracious to put these tours together for us several times each year. You’re sure to find inspiration to use in your own home – there’s something for everyone!

If you’re coming over from Whispering Pines Homestead, I’m so glad you’re here! Anita’s home is so charming – it’s like the perfect welcome home hug.

Summer is my most favorite season of the year! It goes all the way back to fun-filled summer days spent at the pool and the beach as a child. Even though I’m waaaay beyond my childhood, the approach of it never ceases to fill me with anticipation.

It’s the time of year when the outdoors is exploding with all sorts of colors. And if you know me at all, you know that I love color and I’ll use any excuse at all to add it to my home.

Starting in my living room, you’ll find a mix of classic colors, which makes it super easy to add a few seasonal touches to my existing decor.

Yay for not having to reinvent the wheel for every season and holiday!

If I had to pick a color of the year for summer, this year it would be coral. As you walk through my house, you’ll see it sprinkled in throughout.

In all honesty though, I don’t think it’s just me. Coral is definitely having a moment in the world of home decor.

Because I already have smatterings of it in fabric prints and artwork, it was easy to add just a bit more for summer.

TIP: Choose a color from the existing decor in your home to use as a seasonal accent color.

One of my easy go-to ways to add seasonal color is with pillow covers. They can be so, so inexpensive on Amazon.

The pretty coral ones on my couch are actually made from a reproduction of an expensive designer fabric. In all honesty, I don’t know how they get away with doing that.

The second favorite way that I add touches of summer is by incorporating just a little bit of coastal. Just a little.

Coastal is a theme that’s easy to go overboard with, so just a little goes a long way. Did I say just a little?

Why redecorate your entire mantel when all you need to do for a new season is to swap out some of the stems in the vases.

You might remember that I had pink cherry blossoms in the blue and white vase for spring, but these tangerine branches look more summery to me.

Did you know that the dollar store can be a good resource for artificial flowers? Now, I don’t recommend using them solely to make flower arrangements, but they are fine when you only need a few snips.

And don’t they look pretty in the artichoke tulipieres on the sideboard in my breakfast room.

Another place that I have fun playing with each season is by switching out the display of decorative plates on my plate rack.

I’m guessing that the topiary plates are from the 90’s, but I found them for a song at a consignment shop. Topiaries are a timeless motif that are always around in one form or another.

For once, I remembered to fertilize my hydrangea bushes this spring, so they are being quite the show-offs this summer! There are lots of good looking artificial hydrangeas on the market today, but you just can beat the real thing.

And finally, on the other side of the breakfast room, you’ll find my cute bench loaded down with pillows in all the colors of the season.

As I wrap up my colors of summer home tour, I hope you’ve been inspired to experiment with some bold and refreshing touches in your own home.

Remember, decorating for a season doesn’t have to mean a complete overhaul—small, thoughtful additions like a splash of coral or a hint of coastal decor can completely transform a space.

Whether it’s changing out pillow covers, swapping floral arrangements, or refreshing a plate rack, each small change helps to capture the essence of summer.

Most importantly, have fun with it. Here’s to a summer that looks as good as it feels—bright, joyful, and wonderfully vibrant. Happy decorating, my friend!

Next up on the tour is Deborah from B Vintage Style. You will be amazed at what she has done with her 121 year old home.
