This Week’s Random-ness

• I give up. What is the secret to attracting hoards of hummingbirds to your feeder? The most that I’ve ever seen at my feeder at one time is three. I want my feeder to look like this.

Give me all your tips!

• I need some vacation book recs. I have a beach trip planned in a few weeks and am on the lookout for a good vacation read. My typical go-to books are historical Christian fiction.

I love to lose myself in a really good book, do you? Who are your favorite Christian authors?

• Do you do any summer decorating around your home? I don’t do a lot, but I do like to add a few touches to my everyday decor.

You can check out this year’s summer home tour, if you’d like some ideas. It’s all about color and pattern play for me!

Tamara Alexander is really good. I’ve read them all!! Start with The Belle Meade Plantation Collection.

  2. One of my favorite authors is Lisa Wingate. The Book of Lost Friends and Before We Were Yours are excellent reads. Also Sold on a Monday by Kristine McMorris. I also enjoyed Winter Garden by Kristen Hannah. I hope you enjoy your vacation. It renews the soul when you can get away. Do you still have your beach condo? I loved watching the renovation.

    1. No, we sold our condo a few years ago. We just got tired of worrying about every hurricane that came through. Also, I’m such a homebody, but I felt like I needed to drive to the beach every weekend. I miss the idea of owning a place, but not the reality of it. LOL Thank you for the book recs!

Love the living room with all the beautiful blue accents. What a clever idea to do with the sea shells.

About hummingbirds, I’ve had feeders out for years here in Georgia. It has always been my experience that hummers are very possessive of their feeders and don’t want to share. They’ll chase off any other hummers that try to steal some food. Maybe it’s different in other areas of the country. So I just put out several feeders in different areas of the yard.

    1. You’re right about them being possessive! I always see them chase one another away. Good idea for having multiple feeders. Thank you for the suggestion!

  5. Have you read the Savannah Secrets series? Very light, charming historical fiction mysteries surrounding Savannah. I enjoyed them.

    1. No, I haven’t read them, but I check it out. Thank you for the suggestion!

  6. Good luck with the hummingbirds. I have never had that many willing to share. I usually just have one bully who stands guard over my feeder and won’t share with the others.

I like this new post format.

    1. Also I forgot to add – my favorite Christian authors – Janette Oke, Lauraine Snelling, Lori Wick, and Tamara Alexander. I’m reading a series by Snelling right now that is really good. First Book in the series is Seeds of Change.

      1. Thank you for the suggestions! I’ll add them to my list.

    2. I was amazed the first time that I realized what little bullies they are. I’m glad you’re enjoying The Muse!

  7. I’ve read hummingbirds are territorial when it comes to feeders….those in the picture are photoshopped!

    1. I was shocked the first time that I realized how territorial they are. They look too sweet to mean so mean!

I would like to recommend a good author for you. Naomi Rawlings, is someone I recently discovered. She has several different book series you might enjoy. I started with the Texas Promise series, and then moved to the others. Hope you enjoy!
