I mean come on – how much easier could it be to plant something?
All I had to do was to give it as much sunlight as I could and keep it moist.
Before long, I had cute little sprouts of basil!
Well…mother nature seems to have conspired against me over the last several weeks. We’ve have the craziest weather ever here in the southeast. The extended cold temps prevented me from placing my planter out onto my deck (where it would have received full sun) and leaving it there.
The one time that I tried that, I forgot to bring it in when we had a torrential downpour. I just knew that the sprouts were ruined, but they snapped right back after a day or two.
You can probably tell by looking at the dirt in the pot that it rained pretty heavily.
So, my basil has happily resided right here in my kitchen in the sunniest spot available.
We had freezing temps late into April, so I didn’t dare risk placing my planter outside overnight.
But May is here and I’m pretty confident that we’re past all of that. Yay!
So I’ll place my planter out on my deck where I just know the basil will take off.
Then I’ll be back to share a recipe for Italian Herbed Butter. Yum.
