Traditional Style Fall Mantel Display
When it comes to decorating, if you love a traditional look, this one’s for you. Blue and white is just right for mixing with vibrant traditional fall color accents.
With a look like this, you only need to add a few touches to capture the essence of this beautiful season. The only fall-specific items in the display are the mini pumpkins in little bowls and the logs in the large brass container down on the hearth.
The rest of the items are my everyday decorations that I left in place. That’s KISS decorating at it’s finest! Don’t know what KISS decorating is? Click HERE to find out.
The tall vases on each end are filled with faux branches and provide a very balanced look to the entire fireplace, which is very appealing to me.
The fall colors mix well with the colors in the piece of art too. I guess that’s a happy accident, because I certainly didn’t have fall in mind when I purchased it.

Beautiful Fall Mantel Decor With Burgundy And Navy
Can you base your entire decorating scheme on one pillow? Why yes, yes you can!
Instead of decorating this fireplace with classic fall colors, I was inspired by a pillow that I found at HomeGoods.
Even though I wouldn’t call this a fall pillow, the embroidered design and colors gave me fall-feels and provided the color inspiration that I needed to try something a little different.
A large pottery vase filled with stems of faux leaves and the blue and white vase brought the entire color scheme together.
Down on the hearth, a few velvet pumpkins in the same colors along side a basket provide texture, which is so important to any design scheme.
Rich Golden Hues Take Center Stage
Here’s another fall color scheme that was once again inspired by a pillow from HomeGoods. Hmmm….are we noticing a theme here?
This pillow called for all the warmer fall tones to be used on my fireplace mantel – rich olive green and saturated golden yellows.
I would call this a slightly asymmetrical display. The tall candle holders on one end of the mantel balance the height of the fall foliage stems in a large urn on the opposite side. A lot of little things on a mantel can give off a cluttered appearance, so just few faux pumpkins tucked in just the right spots are all that were needed.
A large vintage copper cauldron that is filled with giant pine cones gives a bit of a rustic feel and really helps to create a cozy living room.
Unexpected And Neutral Colors For Fall
The fall mantel decorations for this fireplace were inspired by a trio of pottery vases that I found at a local shop. They were a beautiful terra cotta color with faux moss on the outside, which gave them the appearance of having an aged patina.
I chose to use natural elements as vase filler instead of fall florals. There are dried faux pampas grass stems in the vase on one end and some sort of dried foliage with berries on the other.
This is another display that isn’t perfectly symmetrical. The height of the pampas grass stems on one end is balanced with tall candlesticks on the other.
For something unexpected and to bring out the “aged patina” of the containers, I added a pop of color using a brighter green in the form of a large faux pumpkin on the hearth . It blended nicely with the color of the “moss” on the exterior of the vases.
And once again, I brought out my giant copper cauldron, but filled it with birch logs instead of pine cones for this year.
Soothing And Cozy Color Palette
I always need something to inspire me when coming up with fall mantel ideas each year. You might say that I need a little kick-start sometimes.
My inspiration this year came from beautiful fall colored eucalyptus stems. They consisited of very soothing fall colors, instead of vibrant oranges, which inspired me to use muted colors on the rest of the fireplace.
Here in North Carolina, we keep the green leaves on the trees for much of the fall, so I used both faux and live greenery to immulate what I see each time I look out of my windows at home.
The colors in the piece of art, the white pumpkins, white candles and white vases all work together to tone things down to give me a soothing, but cozy vibe.
Very Simple Fall Mantel Decor
The fall fireplace this particular year was totally inspired by an original painting that I inherited from my aunt. How perfect is it for fall display? I have to say that I truly love the vibrancy of the orange pumpkin in front of a saturated blue background.

I really wanted the artwork to take center stage, so I kept the rest of the decorations on the fireplace super simple.
This is definitely an asymmetrical look. To help the artwork pop against the wall, I created a layer using a tall section of diy aged driftwood boards to act as a backdrop, which is balanced on the opposite end with tall fall leaf stems.
Notice how one tall candlestick on the mantel is balanced by its mate down on the opposite side of the hearth.
The Beauty Of Rustic Orange
The fireplace this year almost has a monochromatic appearance. My idea for decorating the mantel was all about displaying my collection of beautiful rich orange pumpkins.
If you’ll notice, even the fall wreath above the fireplace is simple and doesn’t take attention away from the pumpkins.
To do something a little different, I tilted a large wicker basket and arranged it to give the appearance of pumpkins spilling out of it. Instead of using seasonal flowers as filler, I tucked a fall leaves.
I used candles in lanterns, a throw pillow and a pretty plaid throw blanket to carry the color throughout the rest of the display.
Inspiration can be found it the most unexpected places. Whether you’re drawn to traditional, minimalist, or unexpected color schemes, you’re only limited by your imagination and creativity when it comes to decorating your mantel for fall.
